Hi there! It’s been a minute since my last note, and a lot has happened since February. Dylan and I said “I Do” on March 8 in Highlands, North Carolina! It was truly the best day of our lives. I got to marry the love of my life! God blessed us with the most beautiful weather, and our team of vendors really made the magic happen with our vision for the ceremony and reception (more on that to come).
After wedding day, we had one full day to get ourselves together, and it was off to Kenya bright and early Monday morning. We were in Africa for two weeks (more on that to come also), and we arrived back home on March 24. Whew!
This past week was the first week I really felt like I had my feet back on the ground. No one really talks about how it feels after the wedding and honeymoon, but it’s a weird feeling. You spend all this time focused and planning this huge life event, and then it happens! And it happens so fast! And then it’s over! The feeling is rather bittersweet.
All that being said, I am excited to be back and a little less distracted! I hope I can focus a little harder this year on the people and moments that matter the most! I am working on a list of goals for Spring and Summer and am excited to dive in to this newsletter a little more (one of the aforementioned goals).
I hope every one is having a wonderful Masters weekend! This was Dylan and I’s first weekend at home together since we got back from our honeymoon, and we have really tried to soak in every moment before he heads back up to South Dakota for planting season after Easter. For those that are new here, Dylan is a farmer, and his farm is in South Dakota so we are long distance for a bit during the spring and fall seasons.
Aside from doing a million loads of laundry, writing thank you notes, and tidying up the house from being gone, we have really enjoyed the downtime the past two weeks. This came with a lot of TV shows, movies, and a hearty mix of takeout and home cooked meals. You won’t hear me complaining!
reading, writing, watching
I have been all over the place with books. I think I tried to start four different ones the month leading up to our wedding. My brain was just not interested in sitting down to read. I recently started Famous Last Words by Gillian McAllister. I loved Wrong Place, Wrong Time and have high expectations for this one. I’m only about 60 pages in, and I am definitely intrigued. In short, Cam, a new mom and devoted wife, wakes up one morning to find her loving husband not home. He isn’t responding to any of her messages, which she finds odd. Then she gets a call from the police, and it seems her husband is at a warehouse holding three people hostage with a gun. I will keep you updated, but so far I am liking where it’s headed.
After we got home from our trip, I immediately dove in to Season 3 of The White Lotus, along with the rest of the world. What a trip that was! I enjoyed it and am sad it’s already over.
I just started watching Paradise on Hulu. I am only on episode 2, but episode 1 already got me hooked! I cannot wait to watch more.
My mom and I watched The Life List on Netflix. Wow. It was so cute and really had us in our feels. I highly recommend if you’re needing a tear jerker/rom-com type.
shopping, buying, trying
The Sephora sale ends tomorrow! I feel like this sale is all I have read about and seen this week on social media, but it is a good one. I stocked up on a few staples like beauty blenders, my favorite tinted moisturizers, this one and this one, my ride or die concealer, and my favorite lip oil. I also went a little crazy and got a new neutral eye shadow palette which I already used and LOVE, and this new depuffing face mask. I am going to do before and after photos with this the next time I use it because it is CRAZY the difference it makes. This product works so well, and I will have it in my rotation forever! Thank you for the recommendation, Grace Atwood, you were not kidding about it being magic!
I really want some cute warm weather flats, but I am so torn. I love these woven ones, these red ones, and these round toe ones. I need to think on it some more! There are just too many good ones!
Due to the weight restrictions on our luggage in Africa (33 lbs. max). I gave in and bought the new kindle colorsoft, and a part of me hates to say this, but I do love it. It’s just so convenient! It fits into any purse, weighs almost nothing, and reads just like a book. Of course, I will always love the feeling of an actual book or magazine beneath my fingertips, but for travel and ease of access - the kindle is the move.
I hope everyone has a great week this week! Until next post! xo Liz
Happy your home!! Love that you guys are enjoying married life, Cheers!
